I <br />1101, CLEARING AND (.:RUBBING <br />71nt.i. SPECIFICATION RFFFRFNCF: The Minnesota Department of Transporta- <br />tions, "Standard Specifications for Nighwav Construction," 1983 Edition and <br />all amendments thereto shall apple except as modified or altered in the fol- <br />lowing General Requirements. <br />'101.2. DESCRIPTION: This work shall consist of cutting brush, trees, loose <br />~rumps and windfalls, removing roots and stumps from the ground and disposing <br />11f the resultant debris in accordanre with Mn/DOT Specification 2101. <br />2101.3. CONSTRUCTION RFQUIRF.MFNTS: C1PAring operations shall be confined to <br />the areas of excavation or embankment unless otherwise shown in the plans or <br />directed by the Engineer. <br />2101.3.1. Trees 6 Shrubs to be Saved: All desirable trees and shrubs which <br />aore designated by the Engineer to he preserved shall be protected from inj-lry <br />r defacement during the construction operations. <br />2101.3.2. Clearing Brush: All brush shall he cut even with the ground sur- <br />face. Brush shall he construed to he all brush, shrubs or othor vegetation <br />which can he cut with a brush scythe, topether with isolated trees having an <br />average diameter of less than 4 inc'ies at a point 2 feet above ground. <br />2101.3.3. Grubbing: Stumps ane roots shall be removed from all cleared <br />areas. All depressions below the final surfAce of the ground, resulting from <br />the grubbing operations, shall he hackfillel with approved materials obtained <br />be from the grading operations. <br />Its <br />?ln1.3.4. Dispnsal: All <br />timber and All de_brls such as stumps, branches, <br />brush and roots shall he <br />disposed of otirside the right-of-wav by the Con- <br />60 <br />tractor. Prior to dumping, <br />burning or disposing of such material or debris on <br />private or public land, the <br />Contractor must obtain from the Owner of such land <br />t• <br />written permission for such <br />dumping or dispnsal. The Contractor must secure a <br />IMIi <br />waiver of all claims from <br />the land Ownt agAinst the previmisiv described <br />"Owner" for any damages to <br />such land vhir-ti may result from tt;e dumping or dis- <br />k« <br />posaI. <br />Mi <br />All timber, stumps, hranrhev, <br />brush, roots and debris may be burned with- <br />in the right -way, if allowed hr the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency.
