SECTIO] 2 - STANDARD SYSTEM DESIGN <br />•1. SEPTIC TANKS <br />3 <br />a. Each single family residence shall be equipped with two (2) septic tanks. <br />The first tank shall be not less than 1000 gallon capacity and the second <br />tank not less than 750 gallon capacity. For better operating efficiency, <br />it is highly recommended, but not mandatory, that the second tank be of <br />1000 gallon capacity. With two tanks of differing sizes, the first tank <br />shall be the larger of the two: <br />b. The liquid capacity of a septic tank serving an establishment other than <br />a single family residence shall be sufficient to provide a sewage deten- <br />tion period of not.less than 36 hours'din,the tank for flows less than <br />1,500 gallons per day, but in no instance shall the liquid capacity be <br />less than 1000 gallons. For flows greater than 1,500 gallons per day, <br />the.minimum liquid capacity shall equal 1,125 gallons plus 75 percent of <br />the daily sewage flow rate, which shall be'determined by measurement or - <br />estimated from data provided by the applicant. <br />c. Septic tanks shall be placed so that access is convenient for the removal <br />of liquids and accumulated; solids. _. The _tanks -shall-be- placed -.on -firm and.. <br />settled soil capable of bearing the weight of the tank and its contents. <br />DISTRIBUTION B()X: A distribution box with a removable cover and of sufficient size <br />to accommodate the necessary field .lateral lines shall be constructed at the head <br />of each disposal field. A standard box of 16" diameter shall have no more than four <br />(4) outlet pipes. A separate distribution box shall be used on each level of any <br />multi-level drainfield area. <br />SOIL ABSORPTION AREA REQUIRBEM: Final treatment and disposal of sewage tank <br />effluent shall be -by means of soil absorption. <br />a. All treatment areas shall be setback the following horizontal distances <br />from the features given below: <br />Minimum <br />Setback <br />Feature_ Distance (Feet) <br />Property Lines, Buildings and <br />Buried Pipes Distributing - <br />Water Under Pressure 20 <br />Water Supply Wells or Buried <br />Water Suction Pipes 75 <br />Lakes, Streams.and Wetlands 75 <br />-20 <br />
