SECTION 2 - DRAINFIELD SITE CONDITIONS
1. STANDARD SYSTEMS. The City will review applications for standard
on-site sewage treatment system designs provided each site meets
the following minimum conditions necessary for proper functioning
of such systems:
a. Lot Size: The lot shall have an adequate area for -all. existing
and expected improvements in addition to areas of soil suitable
for'the installation of two on-site sewage treatment systems,
known as the "primary drainfield site" to be used initially,
and the "alternate drainfield site" to be used should the primary
site ever fail. In all cases,.at least 10,000 square feet of
suitable soil and slope shall be identified within each lot'
as dedicated for drainfield use.
b. Soils: The following soil classification series shall in
most.cases be considered suitable for installation of standard
systems:
Anoka - AnB, AnC Hayden - HbB, HcC2
Braham - B+B, B+C Lester - LrB, LrC, ,LsC2
• Burnsville-- BuB,.BuC, BxB, BxC
c. Percolation Rate': The percolation -rate must be faster than
60 minutes per inch and slower than 0.5 minutes per inch.
.d. Depth to Groundwater or Seasonally Saturated Horizons: For
proper functioning of this system -the minimum depth to groundwater
or seasonally saturated condition-s.shall be more than 5 feet.
e. Flooding Hazard: There must be no hazard of flooding in.the
area where these systems are installed.
f. Slope: The land slope in the area proposed for the soil absorption
field shall not be greater than 12%.
-10-
