SEQUENCE OF EVENTS RE. <br />NOERENBERO MEMORIAL COUNTY PARE!'. <br />Planning Effort of 1977-1979 <br />1-12-72 Lora Hoppe dies <br />10-02-72 Hearing on will <br />12--3-74 Noerenberg Gardens Advisory Committee is e5tablirhed. <br />11-30-.77 Committee recommends approval of Master Plan and sends letter to <br />Druno City Council recommending: <br />Master Plan <br />Phase I * 350, i,00 <br />Phase II 900,000 <br />Total * 1,250,000 <br />4-27-78 Hennepin County Park. Reserve District (HCPRD) appears before City <br />Council for conceptual approval and also indicates support for <br />public participation efforts. <br />6--24--78 Neighborhood meeting headed by Allan Raymond involves 20 residents <br />and 2 HCPRD people. This is the first time citizens actually saw <br />Master Plan. <br />7-1s►•-78 City Council directs letter to Clifton French, Superintendent o{ <br />HCPRD, expressing residents' concerns and a=,_king for additional <br />time to review Master Plan. <br />8-1-78 Orono committee for the Protection of Naeren j Memorial Part <br />sends letter to Mayor Von Nest staing concerns regarding Master <br />Plan; <br />-inconsistent with terms of the will <br />-negative environmental impact <br />--unsound municipal use and planning <br />....-imprudent use of public funding <br />9-5--78 Dick Denson, city administrator. sends latter to French, HCPRD, <br />and i ts.-Qhwles Weaver, Chairman, Metro Council, stating *Aw <br />concern that Metro Council had awarded $350,000 contract to HCPRD <br />for development of Noerenberg park:. <br />9-11-78 Weaver, Metro Council, replies to above letter stating that a <br />contract was not awarded and acknowledged city's concern with the <br />situation. <br />4-26-79 Denson sends letter to Weaver stating concern that contract of <br />$266,400 has now been awarded to HCPRD, restates that city has <br />never had opportunity to review proposed plans and asks for delay. <br />5-16-79 Benson sends letter- to French restating prior correspondence, <br />concerns and urges cooperation between city and HCPRD. <br />
