The <br />existing street width in the Crystal Bay area varies from 14 feet to 20 feet <br />with 16 feet being an average width. The preliminary report for the project <br />provides for constructing a 24 foot wide section wits a bituminous berm curb <br />to control runoff. <br />The estimated cost for the street section proposed in the preliminary report <br />is $363,900 or $4,385/�nit. The estimated cost for -eplacir.g the street sec- <br />tion at the existing width is $251,400 or $3,030/uni:. The street section <br />proposed in the preliminary report would clean up the area, provide drainage <br />within the street, define the street ane boulevard area and improve safety. <br />Replacement of the street section in kind would not reduce the effectiveness <br />of the project but would not improve the area significantly. <br />We have discussed the improvement with one of the property owners relative to <br />reducing the overall cost of the project. There are several items which will <br />be reviewed at the time of plan and spec preparation which may be cost effec- <br />tive.
