SEQUENCE OF EVENTS FOR MIL11ARY ASSISTANCE <br />1. G ovPrnor or Authorized Representative: <br />a. Receives request (telephone or written, must follow-up with written) <br />from Sheriff or Mayor of affected area indicating nature of emergency, ail <br />local resources have been used, the amount and type of military assistance <br />required, and the name and location of local official in charge. <br />b. Contacts The Adjutant General or staff representative for recommenda- <br />tions regarding request and discusses tasks to be accomplished along with <br />number of personnel and equipr,ent involved if appro-ed. <br />c. Makes decision on request (App,ove/Disapprove). <br />d. Direct Military Affairs to respond. <br />e. Military affairs coordinates with Governor's Office, National Guard <br />units, and local official in charge. <br />f Daily reports (more frequent if situation dictates) are provided to <br />the Governor's Office from Military Support. <br />g. Sheriff or Mayor releases military personnel when no longer needed. <br />h. Executive Order declaring an emergency is prepared by Military <br />Affairs and delivered to the Governor's Office for signature. <br />2. the Adjutant General or Authorized Representative: <br />a. Provides recomme,dations ,nd assistance on events mentioned above. <br />b. Assigns a liaison officer to contact ar,d coordinate with local <br />authorities <br />c. Tailors military force to meet requirements. <br />d. Orders troops to duty. <br />e. Sunervises tasks ataffected site. <br />f. Maintains a journal of activities. <br />g. Coordinates payment of operating costs (troop pay, feeding, lodging <br />if applicable, gasoline, and miscellaneous expenses) from State funds. <br />h. Prepares after -action reports and other documentation as may be <br />necessary. <br />
