City Council Chambers 2780 Kelley Parkway, Orono, MN 55356 <br /> 7Kf5Hov-~ <br /> Mayor Tunheim opened the public hearing at 6:20 p.m. <br /> Jay Nygard, 1386 Rest Point Road,made a suggestion,neither for nor against. <br /> Mayor Tunheim closed the public hearing at 6:21 p.m. <br /> Benson moved, Ricks seconded,to approve the alcohol sales license.VOTE: Ayes 5,Nays 0. <br /> 11. City Code Update—Tobacco Sales—Ordinance 316 <br /> Tunheim introduced the item as a City code amendment regarding tobacco sales that would prohibit retail <br /> sampling of tobacco products. <br /> Mayor Tunheim opened the public hearing at 6:22 p.m. <br /> Simon Forbes,2417 Woodbridge, spoke in favor of the amendment. <br /> Molly Schmidtke,Association for Nonsmokers Minnesota, spoke in favor of the amendment. <br /> Tunheim mentioned three letters received in support of the amendment change. <br /> Mayor Tunheim closed the public hearing at 6:29 p.m. <br /> Ricks moved,Benson seconded,to adopt the amendment to Ordinance 316.VOTE: Ayes 5,Nays 0. <br /> Schwingler moved,Benson seconded,to approve publication of a summary of the Council action. <br /> VOTE: Ayes 5,Nays 0. <br /> PUBLIC COMMENTS <br /> Jay Nygard, 1386 Rest Point Road,provided comments. <br /> 2. ClaimsBills <br /> Ricks asked about an item on the Bills for a $9,754 change order that she assumed goes with <br /> Item 6. <br /> Interim Fire Chief Chwialkowski explained he became aware that the cost for changes made in <br /> June 2024 was still due and had to be paid before the truck could be delivered. He said some <br /> changes were cosmetic, but others were serious safety changes. <br /> Benson asked about a logo change item for$2,000, as it has been requested that these changes go <br /> through Council. <br /> Page 2 of 5 <br />
