�' �� � <br /> • <br /> , RESOLUTION #779 <br /> A RESOLUTION APPROVING AND ADOPTING <br /> PHASE #1 OF THE ORONO COMPREHENSIVE SEWER PLAN <br /> WITH THE CITY OF ORONO • <br /> WHEREAS, the Planning Commission and the Council of the <br /> City of Orono have reviewed the preliminary draft of the Orono <br /> Comprehensive Sewer Plan and found it to be compatible with the <br /> overall comprehensive land. use plan, and other land use plans of <br /> the City. � . <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Orono <br /> hereby approves and adopts the attached Comprehensive Sewer Plan, <br /> Phase #l, as the comprehensive sewer plan of the Cit�y of Orono. <br /> The adoption of this plan promotes and is based upon the following <br /> objectives: <br /> l. Compliance with the land use policies of the Metro- <br /> politan Council. <br /> • 2. Compliance with the comprehensive sewer policies of <br /> the Metropolitan Waste Control Commission. <br /> 3. Providing of municipal servi.ces which are consistent <br /> with high environmental standards for the protection and pre- <br /> servation of Lake Minnetonka and the surrounding watersheds for <br /> the future generations. <br /> 4. Containment of urban development within planned <br /> urb�an areas where basic services such as sewers, water facilities <br /> and police and fire protection can be provided efficiently and <br /> economically. <br /> � 5. Conservation of resources by encouraging orderly <br /> development of land. <br /> , 6. Preservation of farm land and open space. <br /> 7. More economical use of local tax dollars and County <br /> and State tax dollars in locating facilities and providing services <br /> for the benefit of all citizens within the urban growth area. <br /> 8. Providing property owners greater security and long <br /> range planning and investments. <br /> . 9. Making it possible for utility extensions, transpor- <br /> tation facilities and schools to be designed and located so as to <br /> match population growth more closely. <br />
