.YT ��� <br /> • <br /> RESOLUTION #772 <br /> A RESOLUTION RECO.GNIZING A STATE OF EMERGENCY <br /> IN THE PROVISION OF .LAW ENFORCEMENT SERVICE5 ON <br /> LAKE MINNETONKA AND DECLARING A MORATORIUM ON THE <br /> EXPANSION OF LAKE-USE FACILITIES IN THE CITY OF ORONO <br /> FOR THE DURATION OF SUCH EMERGENCY <br /> WHEREAS, Hennepin County has withdrawn support of <br /> the Sheriff's Water Patrol on Lake Minnetonka, resulting in <br /> the loss of. competent law enforcement services for the coming <br /> boating season, and <br /> WHEREAS, the Lake P�innetonka Conservation District <br /> does not have the statutory authority to fund patrol services, <br /> and presently have no ability for contracting year-around <br /> police water patrol services on Lake Minnetonka, and <br /> WHEREAS, the Lake Minnetonka Conservation District <br /> • has passed a resolution declaring that a state of emergency <br /> presently exists wherein the public. safety and welfare of <br /> users of Lake Minnetonka will be materially endangered, and <br /> WHEREAS, the introduction of additional boats onto <br /> ' Lake Minnetonka through the extension of existing dock facilities, <br /> or, in genera]_, through any expansion of lake-use facilities <br /> would materially add to an already dangerous situation. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of <br /> the City of Orono: <br /> 1. That a moratorium be and hereby is declared, <br /> effective immediately, in the City of Orono on the approval of <br /> any request for the extension of existing dock facilities, the <br /> construction of new ,dock facilities, or other boat storage <br /> facilities, whether the same be located in the water or on dry <br /> land of private, commercial, or municipal ownership. <br /> 2. That this moratorium shall continue until such <br /> time as a long term solution has been reached, providing the <br /> funding necessary and resulting in the resumption of year-around <br /> water patrol law enforcement services on Lake Minnetonka. <br /> • • <br />
