. <br /> RESOLUTION #760 <br /> A RESOLUTIOl`d FOR A P!IORATORIUM ON <br /> HOPiE IDZPROVEMENT TAX <br /> WFiEREAS, the State of Minnesota is currently involved <br /> in a severe energy shortage; and <br /> WHEREAS, a critical need for moderate income housing <br /> is projected for at least the next two decades; and <br /> WHEREAS, it is far less costly to encourage citizens <br /> to upgrade existing housing than it is to government to attempt <br /> to rennovate neighborhoods; and <br /> WHEREA5, it is essential that the State stop discouraging <br /> people from improving their own property. <br /> NOL9, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Orono, <br /> • P4innesota, does hereby support the concept of Senate File 103 that <br /> would put a moratorium on the taxing of home improvements as long <br /> as the square footage living area was not increased and the property <br /> is five or more years old. <br /> Adopted by the City Council of the City of Orono, 1�Iinnesota at a <br /> regular meeting held March 17, 1977. <br /> � <br /> � . �' �c.� , <br /> i 1 B.
