Benson, City Administrator <br />FROM: Tom Kuehn, Finance Director ',� NJ <br />DATE: August 8, 1984 <br />SUBJECT: Publishing and Public Hearing Requirements for Revenue <br />Sharing Funds <br />This year we are required to hold at least one public budget hearing on <br />revenue sharing funds prior to adopting the budget. The hearing must <br />be held by the City Council. The hearing is for the purpose of <br />obtaining citizen comments and questions concerning the entire budget <br />and the relationship of Revenue Sharing Funds to that budget. Notice <br />of the hearing must be published at least ten days prior to the hearing. <br />The notice must indicate the date, time, and place of the hearing, the <br />proposed uses of the Revenue Sharing Funds, and a summary of the entire <br />proposed budget. The notice must also include the right of the <br />citizens attending the hearing to provide written and oral comments <br />and ask questions regarding the entire budget and the relationship of <br />revenue sharing to that budget. This material must also be available <br />for public inspection at the City offices and the notice must so state. <br />Within 30 days after adoption of the budget, a summary of the adopted <br />budget showing the intended use of Revenue Sharing Funds must be <br />available for public inspection and notice of its availability must be <br />published. <br />The revenue sharing budget hearing will be held at 7:00 P.M. at the <br />Council Chambers on Monday, October 15, 1984. <br />
