ROLL <br />MINUTES OF THE <br />ORONO PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING <br />MONDAY, MAY 17, 2004 <br />6:00 o'clock p.m. <br />The Commission met on the above mentioned date with the following members present: Chair Jeanne <br />Mabusth; Commissioners Cynthia Bremer, Jim Leslie, David Rahn, Ralph Kempf, Roland Jurgens III and <br />J . Marc Fritzler; City Council Liaison Mayor Barbara Peterson, Representing staff were Planning Director <br />Mike Gaffron and Planner Melanie Curtis and Recorder. <br />Glenda D. Spiotta . <br />Chair Jeanne Mabusth called the meeting to order at 6:03 p.m. <br />CONSENT AGENDA <br />Chair Mabusth asked for public comment to withdraw any matter from the Consent Agenda. There was none. <br />Chair Mabusth asked the Planning Commission if there was any interest to withdraw or change the Consent <br />Agenda. There was none. <br />*1. #04-3011 THAD AND DANIELLE STEELE, 4050 BAYSIDE ROAD, VARIANCES, PUBLIC <br />HEARING (6:04-6:05 p.m.) <br />Leslie moved, Jurgens seconded, to recommend approval of Application #04-3011, Thad and Danielle <br />Steele, 4050 Bayside Road, granting variances in order to construct a detached 24' x 32' garage closer to <br />the front lot line than the principal structure and 75'from the front lot line where 100' is required. <br />VOTE: Ayes 6, Nays 0. <br />*2. #04-3018 KEVIN AND MICHELE KROLCZYK, 65 CYGNET PLACE, VARIANCE, PUBLIC <br />HEARING (6:04-6:05 p.m.) <br />Leslie moved, Jurgens seconded, to recommend approval of Application #04-3018, Kevin and Michele <br />Krolczyk, 65 Cygnet Place, granting a lot area variance in order to construct a new single-family <br />residence on an existing lot 1.17 acres in area where two (2) acres is the required minimum. <br />VOTE: Ayes 6, Nays 0. <br />*3. #04-3013 GEORGE FUNK, 540 OLD CRYSTAL BAY ROAD SOUTH, CONDITIONAL USE <br />PERMIT, PUBLIC HEARING (6:04-6:05 p.m.) <br />George Funk, applicant, was present. <br />Leslie moved, Jurgens seconded, to recommend approval of Application #04-3013, George Funk, 540 <br />Old Crystal Bay Road South, granting a Conditional Use Permit to allow plumbing to be installed, <br />consisting of a bathroom with tub, shower and sink, within an existing detached garage. <br />VOTE: Ayes 6, Nays 0. <br />OLD BUSINESS <br />4. #01-2671 ALISTAIR AND KAREN JACQUES, 645 OLD LONG LAKE ROAD, VARIANCE, <br />PUBLIC HEARING (6:05-6:27 p.m.) <br />Alistair Jacques, applicant, was present. <br />Gaffron introduced the application for lot area variance to permit construction of a new residence on an <br />existing lot which is 1.022 acres in area when 2.0 acres is normally required.
