CITY of ORONO <br /> ,� -- �,... � <br /> � � ti <br /> ti <br /> R.ESOLUTION OF THE C�TY COUNCIL <br /> ���9 p4��'G NO. � � �6 �� <br /> . kESI3 . , <br /> A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING <br /> AN ABSENTEE BALLOT BOARD FOR THE 2002 GENERAL ELECTION <br /> � TO BE HELD NOVEMBER 5,2002 � <br /> WHEREAS, the City Hall serves as an absentee ballot center for the residents of <br /> Orono; and <br /> WHEREAS,State Statute Section 203B.13,Subd 1 provides that an Absentee Ballot <br /> Board may be established by the City Council to facilitate the absentee voting process for an <br /> upcoming election. . <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Orono City Council hereby <br /> establishes an Absentee Ballot Board to do any of the following: <br /> A. Absentee Ballot Board members are authorized to receive, examine, and validate <br /> • absentee ballots. This process of examining the return envelopes and marking them <br /> "accepted" or "rejected" may begin at any time during the 30 days before the <br /> election. <br /> B. If an envelope has been rej ected at least 5 days before the election,the ballots in the <br /> ' envelope must be considered spoiled ballots and the official in charge of the <br /> Absentee Ballot Board shall provide the voter with a replacement absentee ballot and <br /> return envelope in place of the spoiled ballot. <br /> FiJRTHER BE IT RESOLVED by the Orono City Council that: <br /> A. A Board of at least two election judges of different political parties shall be appointed <br /> by the City Clerk. � <br /> B.
