A disadvantage of die County is that dicy experience significant turnover in dicir staff. The
City is reliiuit on die County to ensure quality stiiff ;ue itssigned to Orono. I'he lead assessor
assigned to (^rono, Kim Jensen, was recendy pronuHed to a commercial real estate position
widi die County. We arc in discussions widi die County about who will be assigned as the lead
assessor in Orono.
Tlie advantages ofliiring an assessor are diat we can select a |K*rsoii who hits the skills ;uid
abilities we need, iuid we n,iiy lie able to reduce our costs signilicandy.
One disadvantage of liiring one person as die City Assessor is diat we would be reliant on one
individual to ensure all assessing services are provided. We would not have a Ixick-up
capability. Anodier disadvantage is diat die market for assessors is tiglit. Wlicn we advertised
for an assessor prior to contracting with die County, we di<l not liiive even one c{ualifled
candidate.
