Box 66 <br />Crystal Bay, MQ 55323 <br />Attn: Mr. Mike Gaffron <br />Assistant Planning and Zoning Administrator <br />RE: VARIANCE APPLICATIM NO. 1329 <br />THDMS M 4ELLIS RESIDENCE <br />355 Woodhill Road, Wayzata, MN 55391 <br />Dear Mr. Gaffron: <br />The Owner of the above referenced property wishes to amend the variance <br />application as follows (please refer also to enclosed site plan): <br />The purpose of this variance request is to obtain the best land use <br />possible by minimizing the impact on the property and surrounding land. <br />The intent in siting the residence on the property is to blend the house <br />into the natural landscape by moving a minimal amount of a:oil and thereby <br />saving as many trees as possible. In so doing, the natural habitat for <br />wildlife will be preserved. <br />In order to obtain the best possible land use, a rear variance from the <br />required 26 foof setback from the drainage easement is requested, in <br />addition to the 30 foot front setback variance originally requested. The <br />conditions of this variance will be as follows: <br />1. Portions of two decks will extend beyond the 26 foot drainage easement <br />setback. The underside of the deck shall be a mimimum of 15 feet above <br />the low point of the drainage ditch. A maximum of two columns <br />supporting these decks shall extend past the setback; the base of the <br />column at grade shall be a minimum of 6 feet above the low point of the <br />drainage ditch. <br />2. A portion of the house will extend beyond the drainage easement <br />setback.
