23. Earth covering wood siding. <br />Building is in a state of deterioration and dilapidation, thus it <br />is a safety and health hazard pursuant to Minnesota State Building <br />Code/Uniform Building Code, Section 203. <br />Orders to remove or repair the structure were issued by the <br />Building official on October 18, 1988. These orders have not been complied <br />with. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED as follows: <br />A) That the City Council of the City of Orono, pursuant to State <br />Statute 463.251, hereby orders the owner(s) to board -up and secure the <br />structure within ten (10) days. The City Council further orders that <br />unless corrective action is taken within ten (10) days from the date <br />of service of this order, it will result in the City properly securing <br />the building and the cost thereof.will be charged against the real <br />estate as provided in State Statute Section 463.21. <br />B) The City Council of the City of Orono, pursuant to the foregoing <br />findings and in accordance with Minnesota Statutes Sections 463.15 to <br />463.261 hereby orders the owner(s) of the property to make the <br />following repairs in order to correct the hazardous condition: <br />1. Remove make -shift addition due to unsafe condition and it is <br />not structurally sound pursuant to UBC Section 203. <br />2. Foundation wall is bad. Stone foundation shall be removed <br />and foundation must be installed to resist horizontal forces <br />pursuant to UBC Section 2310. <br />3. Remove tuck -under garage foundation which is caving in and <br />install new foundation which will resist horizontal forces <br />pursuant to UBC Section 2310. <br />4. Remove improper supports and provide wood or steel columns <br />properly installed pursuant to UBC Section 2516 (c)(4). <br />5. Provide 1 hour occupancy separation between the residential <br />occupancy and the garage. Separation may be limited to the <br />installation of the materials approved for 1 hour fire resistive <br />construction on the garage side and a self closing, tight- <br />fitting, solid wood door (1 3/8" thickness) will be permitted <br />pursuant to UBC Section 503 (d) (4). <br />Page 3 of 7 <br />J <br />
