MINUTES OF THE <br />ORONO PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING <br />Monday, October 21, 2002 <br />6:30 o'clock p.m. <br />.--,..-- <br />Hawn suggested they design a motion that defines the fill as the amount required to obtain ·a 4' <br />high berm and not identify a certain number. <br />While he had hoped to proceed, Wiens stated that he had also hoped for a higher berm along <br />County Road 15 than the 4' in this proposal. He indicated that he would go back to his engineer <br />in order for him to redesign the plan. Wiens felt he could stay within the 500 cubic yard <br />allowance and still construct an 8' berm along County Road 15 and then return next month with <br />a different proposal for the rest of the landscaping. He asked the Commission to table his <br />application. <br />Hawn moved, Chair Smith seconded, to table Application #02-2834, Robert and Julie <br />Wiens, 1425 Bay Ridge Road, tabling the applicants request for a Conditional Use Permit <br />for the purpose of redesigning the proposal. VOTE: Ayes 7, Nays 0. <br />OLD BUSINESS <br />23 RONALD CLOUD, 3460 NORTH SHORE DRIVE, VARIANCES 7:21 - <br />8:07 P.M. <br />Ronald Cloud, the Applicant, as present. <br />Weinberger explained that, effective tha temoon, the applicant had revised his application to <br />reflect his request to simply replace the previou 'X 10' deck, with the only addition being that <br />a stairway access be allowed off the deck. Weinber noted that the applicant has withdrawn <br />his request for a three season porch. <br />With just the replacement of the previous deck, Chair Smith noted that <br />his structural limit of 15%. She asked if the stairway would run off the front o ·de of the deck. <br />Cloud noted that the stairway would need to head towards the lake in order to avoid an <br />Page 8 of 42
