AGENDA ITEM <br />Date: September 22, 2025 <br />Item: 13 <br />Title: Compensation Increase - Public Works Utility Maintenance Worker <br />Presenter: DJ Goman, Public Works Superintendent <br />Section: Public Works Report <br />Purpose: <br />To gain City Council approval for a step increase for Public Works Utility Maintenance Worker <br />Lance Kraemer. <br />2. Background: <br />Public Works employee Lance Kraemer started with the city on January 14, 2025 as a Public <br />Works Utility Maintenance Worker. He recently had his probationary review and has exceeded <br />expectations based on his exceptional performance during that time. Lance has quickly gained <br />work proficiency with the Water Treatment Plants and Sewage Lift Stations in a shorter time <br />frame than a typical new employee, is already able to operate independently and take the lead in <br />some utility projects. Examples include his work on the annual hydrant flushing and sewer jetting <br />work. Lance continues to display a drive for excellence and has taken the initiative to improve <br />processes both in the utilities division and the overall public works department. Examples include <br />taking on the the Lead & Copper Testing program and underground utility locating. These <br />outcomes reflect performance that exceeds the normal expectations for an employee at this stage <br />of employment. Finally Lance has quickly proven himself to be a team player receiving praise <br />form his supervisors and peers. <br />3. Staff Recommendation: <br />Staff recommend a step increase to Grade 8, Step 1 $33.07 of the Local 49 AFL-CIO pay scale for <br />exceptional performance. <br />COUNCIL ACTION REQUESTED <br />Motion to approve an increase to Grade 8 Step 1 $33.07 of Local 49 AFL-CIO pay scale for Public <br />Works Maintenance Utility Worker Lance Kraemer. <br />108 <br />
