A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING <br />A CLEAN WATER PROJECT FOR LONG LAKE <br />WHEREAS, the City of Orono has long had an interest in preserving <br />and improving its natural resources; and <br />WHEREAS, Long Lake has been one of the natural attributes located <br />within the City of Orono; and <br />WHEREAS, the vast majority of property owners on Long Lake are in <br />the City boundaries of Orono; and <br />WHEREAS, the Minnehaha Creek Watershed District (M.C.W.D.) has <br />slated a clean water project to be undertaken through a grant application <br />to the P.C.A.; and <br />WHEREAS, successfully completion for the grant monies could fund <br />the project for up to 50% of the project from this fund toqether with an <br />additional 20% from other State and Federal funds; and <br />WHEREAS, the balance of the project would be funded by a tax levy <br />against the balance of the district; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Orono makes up approximately % of the <br />value in that district. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of Orono, <br />Minnesota support the M.C.W.D.'s undertaking for a water quality <br />improvement project on Long Lake and its watershed; and <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City indicates its willingness <br />to contribute up to $ should the Minnehaha Creek Watershed District <br />desire such financial support. <br />Adopted by the Orono City Council on this 26th day of September, <br />1988. <br />ATTEST: <br />Dorothy .4.
