City of ORONO <br />RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL- <br />NO. <br />Pt <br />�r 12 l9�'.3 <br />A RESOLUTION COMUMORATING <br />WILLIAM 'BRAD' VAN NEST <br />/� <br />WHEREAS, The City of Orono is a municipal corporation existing <br />under the laws of the State of Minnesota; and <br />WHEREAS, William "Brad" Van Nest was a resident of the City of <br />Orono; and <br />WHEREAS, Brad was a Planning Commission Member from February 28, <br />1972 until November 22, 1976, and served as Planning Commission Chairman <br />and Vice -Chairman; and <br />WHEREAS, Brad served the community as Mayor from November 1976 <br />through December 1982; and <br />WHEREAS, during his 11 years as Planning Commission Member and <br />Mayor, Brad played a principal role in the creation and adoption of Orono's <br />Comprehensive Plan, which continues to guide the development philosophy of <br />the community; and <br />WHEREAS, Brad was instrumental in enhancing and perpetuating the <br />quality of life for the residents of Orono, through :zis signficant efforts <br />to preserve the quality and character of Lake Minnetonka; and <br />WHEREAS, Brad Van Nest represented the highest form of leadership <br />through his long term selfless devotion to his community and protection of <br />its natural assets; and <br />WHEREAS, Brad passed away on August 24, 1988. <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Orono Council, the Orono <br />residents, and Orono staff extends their condolences to the family of <br />William "Brad" Van Nest and their heartfelt thanks for all his <br />contributions to the City of Orono. <br />Adopted by the City Council of the City of Orono at a regular <br />Council meeting on the 12th day of September, 1988. <br />ATTEST: <br />Dorothy M.
