- approved the following variance requests: <br />Annette Murphy, kindergarten, to attend Orono Schools for the 1988-89 <br />school year <br />Joshua Brooke, kindergarten, to attend Wayzata Schools for the 1988-89 <br />school year <br />Kelly McEnany, grade 11, to complete her education at Robbinsdale <br />Schools; <br />- accepted the low bid of M b S Roofing for replacing roof section F on the <br />Orono Middle School; <br />- accepted the low bid of McBroom Construction, New London, MN for 1P <br />overlayment and P latex surface on the senior high school track; <br />- accepted the bid of Context, L.T.D. for carpet installation as per bid <br />taken on June 21, 1988; <br />- RESOLVED: That William Fenholt, Business Manager, on behalf of Orono <br />Independent School District No. 278, is hereby a�,thorized to <br />enter into and designated to sign a contract for public school <br />energy conservation investment loan funds as authorized by Laws <br />of Minnesota, 1983, Chapter 323, and approved by the Energy and <br />Economic Development Authority. <br />BE IT ALSO RESOLVED that Orono Independert School District <br />No. 278 guarantees it will annually levy or otherwise collect <br />an amount sufficient to make annual loan repayments of the <br />interest and principal due on the loan amount approved, which <br />is not to exceed the $5,293 requested in the accompanying loan <br />application. <br />- approved the adoption of the Harcourt Brace Jovanovich language arts text <br />for third grade; <br />- approved the Treasurer's Report for April, 1988; <br />- approved the bills as covered by vouchers 059840 through 059921 ane 058498 <br />through 059215. <br />Dr. Mich reported that a successful summer ;rh,)ol program was completed with <br />over 400 students in attendance; that. on Augus- 18 the Board is invited to <br />attend a chemical awareness workshop; that on that same date, August 18, the <br />annual picnic for the summer workers will be held at Schumann Elementary School <br />and the Board is invited to attend; that the faculty speaker for the Preschool <br />Workshop will be David Aldrich; that the summer projects are on schedule; that <br />an Executive Sassion of the Board directly follows this meeting regarding <br />litigation. <br />Representative John Burger was present at the meeting and commented briefly on <br />his work as the Representative for this district. <br />Kitty Crosby expressed appreciation to Representative Burger for th? <br />attention/service he provides to the Orono School District. <br />UPON MOTION by Jim Franklin, seconded by Kitty Crosby, the Board of Education <br />approved the Mission Statement/Instructional Goals policy as reviewed by the <br />Board on June 13, 1988.
