As vo>> arP aware, Mike Kirnvczuk was injured cn duty <br />in February, 1987. His return to duty soon appears doubtful. <br />Officer Brad Johnson broke his left arm, requiring surgery, while <br />skiing and will be out for four months. 'this occurred on 12/22/87. <br />I would employ the licensed officers un to four dews a week to <br />cover shifts of the injured two regular officers. <br />I have had medical and psychological tests performed on Mr. James <br />Morrow, a current Orono Police Reserve since 1986, 26 veers old, <br />single, who has completed his skills course, and is licenseable. <br />as a peace officer. He is in the Minnesota Police Recruitment System <br />with a score of 62. He has a-"B.A. in criminology and a B.A. in <br />socidlogy. He has completed an internship with the Orono Police <br />Department in the s urr..ier of 19F6. <br />I also wish to employ Officer Veter Palmer of the Brooklyn Park <br />Police Department. Peter Previously was a member of the Orono Poli^e <br />Reserve and has completed an internship with this Department. Peter <br />has been with the Brooklyn Park PD for about 22A vears. <br />I would nay these part-time officers $6.50 an hour with no benefits, <br />not to exceed $3900.00 for each officer for theivear. <br />TO: Mayor and City Council <br />FROM: Mark Bernhardson, City Administrato�l <br />Forward recommending approval to hire Mr. James Morrow as a part time <br />officer for 1988 with salary not to exceed a total of $3,900 or until <br />Officer Kirnyczuk is able to return to duty which ever is earlier. <br />Recommending approval to hire Peter Palmer as a part time officer not <br />to exceed a period of 6 months and only as a replacement when there <br />is more than one officer disabled. <br />f <br />PROPOSM MXION - Moved by _, seconded fiy _, the Council approves the hiring <br />t of Mr. James Morrow as a pr--t time office for 1988 with salary not to exceed a <br />total of $3,900 or until Officer Kirnyczuk is able to return to duty which ever <br />is earlier.
