A RESOLUTION REQUESTING NO DELAYS <br />IN METROPOLITAN WASTE CONTROL COMMISSION PROJECT 85-67 <br />WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Waste Control Commission has approved <br />construction of the Minnetonka Beach/Orono Sanitary Sewer Interceptor <br />Project 85-67; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Orono has also approved Project 85-67; and <br />WHEREAS, the Project is being constructed to eliminate overflows <br />into Lake Minnetonka; and <br />WHEREAS, it has been documented that the existing system has, due <br />to inadequate capacity, overflowed into Lake Minnetonka an average of once <br />per year for the past five years; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Orono has been advised that Project 85-67 is <br />being considered for delay by the Metropolitan Waste Control Commission due <br />to budgetary limitations; and <br />WHERESA, if there are delays of this Project, it will further <br />endanger the safety, health, and welfare of the public and the quaiity of <br />Water of Lake Minnetonka. <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Orono does hereby <br />request the Metropolitan Waste Control Commission to maintain the current <br />schedule for construction of the Minnetonka Beach/Orono Interceptor Project <br />85-67, which schedule allows for beginning of construction in the fall of <br />1988. <br />Adopted by the Orono City Council on this llth day of July, 1988. <br />James R.
