Box 66 <br />Crystal Bay, MN 55323 <br />Re: City Council Vacancy <br />Dear Mayor Grabek and Council Members: <br />I am very interested in the seat on the City Council being vacated by <br />Bill Simes. I have lived in Orono since 1977, my children have attended the <br />Orono Schools since then and I want to help preserve the quality of life in the <br />area. I also have a strong desire to be involved in community affairs as evi- <br />denced by the attached resume. Finally, I am concerned about the increased <br />pressure of all kinds being put on Orono by the development of Highway 394 and <br />want to be in a position to influence the response of the City to this pressure, <br />My qualifications for the position are the following: I have been on the <br />Planning Commission for almost a year now and thus have a good understanding of <br />City Zoning Ordinances and just how city government works. Other Planning <br />Commission's members will verify that I am willing to be an advocate for a posi- <br />tion I feel strongly about and am not afraid to stand behind my opinions. Also, <br />I have been involved in starting a new business within a large, bureaucratic <br />organization that has lots of application to city government.
