NINJTES OF THE REGULAR ORONO COUNCIL MEETING HELD JUNE 13, 1988 <br />LNCD CONTINUED <br />-Hurr stated that the boat tour for elected officials <br />will be held on August 6, 1988. <br />-Hurr noted that the Mc ..ro Waste Control Commission is <br />having a budget breakfast on June 29, 1988 at 7:30 A.M. <br />at the Lafayette Club, of which the Council will be <br />invited. They are working on reducing the budget to 110 <br />million and looking at capital improvements of 45 <br />million. To accomplish the reductions, they propose <br />cutting the small projects, including not doing the <br />Orono project, however, she felt there was great support <br />for the premise that the Lake Minnetonka regional <br />resource must no longer be polluted. They hope to <br />reduce the sewer fees in Orono approximately 5%. They <br />will be meeting with the Navarre Chamber of Commerce and <br />marina owners regarding the interceptor project, and <br />after Labor Day, the landing at Maxwell Bay will be <br />closed for 30-40 days. <br />PLANNING COMMISSION COMMENTS <br />Planning Commissioners Chairman Kelley and Bellows were <br />present. Chairman Kelley stated that they would like to <br />postpone the discussion regarding the accessory <br />structure ordinance until the July llth meeting when <br />Mayor Grabek is present. <br />PUBLIC COMMENTS <br />Attorney Jim Lord was present representing Stephen <br />Wilson of 3508 Ivy Place. Referring to his letter dated <br />June 8, 1988 submitted to the Council this evening, he <br />explained the problem of Mr. Wilson being billed for <br />991,000 gallon, of water used last quarter. He stated <br />that Mr. Wilson has tried to worx with staff to clear up <br />this problem to no avail. He stated they had the water <br />meter tested but the test proved inconclusive to this <br />problem. He reviewed their proposal to solve the <br />problem as outlined in his memo. He rioted that he has <br />advised his client not to pay water bill, but pay an <br />amount based on the higher.-t normal usage for this <br />property. <br />City Administrator Bernhardson stated that staff has not <br />had the opportunity to research Mr. Lord`s letter which <br />was received today and have no recommendation on the <br />matter at this time. <br />Acting Mayor Callahan stated that the Council will not <br />take action on this matter until staff makes a <br />recommendation, however, advised that this matter be <br />solved as soon as possible. <br />4 <br />
