MINux S OF THE REGULAR ORONO COUNCIL MEETING HELD MAY 23, 1988 <br />#1279 NORTHERN HYDRAULICS CONTINUED <br />certificate of occupancy. <br />Rob White stated that Northern Hydraulics would be <br />an asset to the area and had support from others in <br />the area for their operacion to be permitted at <br />this location. <br />It was moved by Councilmember Callahan, seconded by <br />Mayor Grabek to concur with staff and Planning <br />Commission's interpretation that this type of <br />operation is not appropriate in this zoning area. <br />Motion, Ayes 5, Nays 1. <br />City Administrator stated if Council were to <br />consider a code amendment the draft language would <br />have to go to a public hearing at the Planning <br />Commission in July for their consideration, if they <br />recommended approval or amendment it would then go <br />to Council. In the interim Northern Hydraulics <br />could undertake the warehousing portion of their <br />operation until an amendment is adopted. <br />Councilmember Callahan stated this was not the time <br />to quickly rush through a code amendment for e <br />particular property in the middle of the industrial <br />zone. This should be considered in the whole <br />context of the Highway 12 Corridor Study. <br />It was moved by Mayor Grabek, seconded by <br />Councilmember Sime to allow Northern Hydraulics to <br />use the facility as allowed only within the present <br />zoning code. Motion, Ayes 5, Nays 0. <br />COMPREHENSIVE PLAN AMENDMENT <br />HIGHWAY 12 <br />RESOLUTION #2437 <br />Administrator Bernhardson reviewed this item for <br />Council stating the Comprehensive Plan has been <br />approved by the Metropolitan Council and the <br />Council must adopt the Comprehensive Plan and <br />requesting authorization of John Shardlow to work <br />on the zoning ordinance process to implement the <br />plan. Draft language should be ready for Council's <br />June 13th meeting. <br />It was moved by Mayor Grabek, seconded by <br />Councilmember Sime to direct staff to engage Mr. <br />John Shardlow to undertake the zoning ordinance <br />amendments to implement the Comprehensive Plan on <br />Highway 12 for 55,500 to be funded out of <br />contingency. Motion, Ayes 3, Nays 2. <br />Councilmembers Callahan and Peterson voted nay. <br />It was moved by Mayor Grabek, seconded by <br />
