The Municipal Code of the City of Orono is <br /> amended by adding Cha�ter 112 as follows : <br /> 112. UNCLAIMED AND CONFISCATED PROPERTY <br /> 112. 10 Unclaimed Property. Except as otherwise pro- <br /> vided in Sections 112 . 20 and 112 . 30 , any money or personal <br /> �aroperty, other than animals , coming into the possession of <br /> the City of Orono in the course of anX municipal operation <br /> shall. be handled and disposed of .in the manner provided in <br /> this section. <br /> (a) Custody of Unclaimed Property. Any money or per- <br /> sonal property coming into the possession of any <br /> City officer, agent or employee or member of any <br /> City department, shall, �aithi.n 24 hours , be turned <br /> over to the Chief of Police by such officer, agent <br /> or employee or member of a City department. The <br /> Chief of Police shall �nake provisions for receiving <br /> and safe keeping of property and money delivered to <br /> him and coming into his possession in the court of <br /> municipal o�erations. A recei�t shall be issued to <br /> the �erson delivering such property or moneX to the <br /> City. SuCh pro�erty shall be stored in a safe place <br /> and such money de�osited �aith the City Treasurer in <br /> a special account for a period of six months unless <br /> claimed by the lawfu7. owner. <br /> (b) Clai.ms by Owners . During such six-month period, <br /> the Chief of Police shall make diligent search to <br /> locate the lawful owner. He may deliver such prop- <br /> erty or order suCh money paid to the owner thereof <br /> after receiving satisfactory proof of ownership and <br />
