ORDINANCE N0. 223 <br /> AN ORDINANCE ADDING CHAPTER 19 TO THE <br /> ORONO MUNICIPAL CODE REGARDING FIRE <br /> PROTECTION, FIRE PREVENTION AND ADOPTING <br /> THE MINNESOTA UNIFORM FIRE CODE WITH <br /> AMENDMENTS, AND REPEALING ORDINANCE 108 <br /> THE CITY COUNCIL OF ORONO ORDAINS: <br /> SECTION 1. The Municipal Code of the City of Orono is <br /> amended by adding Chapter 19 to read as follows : <br /> . <br /> 19. FIRE PROTE�TION AND PREVENTION <br /> 19 .010 Purpose The City Council is concerned with the safeguarding <br /> of life and property to a reasonable degree from the hazards of fire <br /> and explosion. Pursuant to the powers and jurisdictions vested <br /> through Minnesota Statutes and other applicable laws, ordinances and <br /> regulations, the City Council does hereby adopt this Ordinance and <br /> the Minnesota Uniform Fire Code (hereinafter "Fire Code") for the <br /> purpose of establishing reasonable regulations, administration and <br /> enforcement for the prevention, control and and extinguishment of <br /> fires; providing for the issuance of permits and collection of fees <br /> where required by the Fire Code, and providing penalties for violation <br /> of Fire Code regulations . <br /> 19.100 FIRE PROTECTION <br /> 19 .101 Fire Department The Fir� Department for the City of Orono <br /> shall be the Fire Department(s) of those adjacent and/or nearby <br /> municipalities with which the City of Orono contracts for fire <br /> protection service. Adoption of this Ordinance shall not preclude <br /> the City of Orono from establishment of an Orono Fire Department to <br /> serve a11 or part of the City in the future. <br /> 19.102 Fire Protection Contracts Fire Protection Contracts between <br /> the City of Orono as vendee and another municipality as vendor shall <br /> include covenants and agreements relating to fire service districts, <br /> fire services provided, compensation . for service, responsibilities <br /> and authorities of the contracting parties. Adoption of this Ordinance <br /> shall not change the intent or provisions of existing Fire Protection <br /> Contracts. <br />
