Boles were dug with a Dayton model a?014 C
auger. No frost was encountered and styrofoam was placed over the
holes overnight to keep the water from freezing. the soil borings
were dug with the Dayton auger to a depthof 42 inches, with a 3"
bucket type hand auger being used for the remaining depth.
The proposed drainfield area is located in the Lester Loan
soil series and yielded an average percolation rate of 9.6 min.
uer inch. Discoloration of the soils indicates that the water table
will be somewhat higher in the spring than the present water table
indicates. However, the requirements for a standard drainfield
system are still met.
For the proposed 3 bedroom house, 570 square feet of soil
treatment area is required. If 2 foot wide trenches are used ,
three 100 foot long trenches are needed. Each should be spaced 6.5
feet minimum center to center making the total width 13 feet.
More lines of shorter lengft can also be used. Lines should be
constructed to follow the contours. The lot should also be graded
to divert rui►off away from the soil treatment area.
Two septic tanks are required. yach should be of 10JO gallon
capacity. They should be located at least 10 feet from the house.
In addition , if the basement is to be served by the sewer,
a oump and t)um,>ing tank will be needed to pump the effluent to the
higher drainfield area if the house elevation remains as proposed.
