WASHINGTON COUNTY <br />- Completed construc'ion cf an access site on Tanner's Lake. A fishing pier <br />was also installed at Tanner's Lake Park. Both of these were donfs on a <br />cooperative basis with the City of Oakdale. <br />- Rehabilitated the public access to Big Carnelian with the installation of <br />a combination poured concrete and plank ramp. <br />- Upgraded the Forest Lake Willow Point site with the installation of a new <br />concrete plank ramp. <br />- Began designing access expansion and improvement of the Scandia Township <br />access site on Big Marine Lake. <br />- Did some minor upgrading at the Bone Lake public access site. <br />- Completed construction of a public access site on Clear Lake. <br />- Negotiations are continuing for the acquisition of property for an access <br />to the St. Croix River. <br />Through a grant from the Legislative Commission on Minnesotr 'esources, the DNR <br />created the Mississippi River System Management Team to proviue coordinated and <br />cooperative direction on all issues relating to the Upper Miss ssippi River <br />System, including the navigable portions of the Minnesota, St. Croix and <br />Mississippi Rivers. One of their tasks will be to coordinate access projects <br />on these rivers with all levels of government to assure compliance with the <br />numerous local, state and federal legislative mandates that apply to the River <br />System. <br />DEPARTMENT OF TRADE AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT <br />The Minnesota Department of Trade and Economic Development (DTED) provides <br />feder;,l Land and Water Conservation Funds (LAWCON) and state grants to local <br />units of government for up to 50 percent of the acquisition and/or development <br />costs of local parks. Cities, courtier, townships, recognized Indian Tribal <br />)overnments, special park districts or elected park and recreation boards in <br />cities of the first class, are all eligible to apply. Each grant application <br />site is physically inspected, reviewed and ranked based on the Statewide <br />Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan (SCORP) ano the Open Project Selection <br />Process (OPSP), as mandated by the National Park Service. The submitted <br />project applications which best meet the criteria of SLORP and OPSP are then <br />programmed for the available funds. Projects which include water -oriented <br />facilities continue to be very competitive. <br />Projects funded by DTED in FY 87 which include boat launch development are: <br />- Thomas Lake, City of Eagan, Dakota County <br />- Parkers Lake, City of Plymouth, Hennepin County <br />- Minnesota River, Winkel Park, City of Chaska, Carver County <br />METROPOLITAN COUNCIL <br />As a part^er in the cooperative water access program, the Metropolitan Council <br />has worked with c,)unties, park districts and other regional park implementing <br />n <br />ii�lll�lll Y�111�®e9lIAN�wl1���111 ... <br />
