MINUTES OF THE PLANNING COMISSIOM MNETTWG HELD MARCH 21, 1988 <br />11256 MWCC COMTINURD <br />James Olson of Bonestroo, Rosene, L I'erlik Assoc., the <br />engineering consultants to the MWCC for this project, <br />stated that Mr. Carlson's comments were accurate as to <br />why this project is needed, however, evaluation of <br />attempts by other municipalities locally and . `ionally <br />to reduce problem flows indicates that they cannot be <br />effectively reduced, therefore the proposed project is <br />necessary. <br />Mr. Carlson reccommended the the City of Orono look <br />into what Wayzata and Long Lake has accomplished in <br />reducing problem flows before proceeding with the <br />project because of the extensive amount of money <br />involved. <br />Ms. Eckhardt noted that the MWCC presently has 2.4 <br />million dollars to put toward this project. <br />Bellows asked if any other solutions to solving the peak <br />water problem without rebuilding the system been <br />investigated? <br />Mr. Olson stated at the project investigation started <br />back in 1979 anu the proposed project was found to be <br />the most coat effective. <br />It was noted t:!e,t there was a public hearing regarding <br />this project heal on March 7, 1988. Ms. Eckhardt <br />explained the process of notification regarding thir <br />hearing noting that approximately 30 people were in <br />attendance. <br />Chairman Kelley read in the ecord a letter from Rent <br />Carisoo, 3498 North Shore Dri e, voicing opposition to <br />disturbance to his property during this projec�. <br />Th- a were i,j other comments from the public ind the <br />public hearinq was closed. <br />It was moved by Johnson, seconded by Bellows, to <br />recommend approval of the conditional use permit and <br />vari,^ce appli,,tion of the MWCC, finding that all <br />■tan—. ds have Is satisfied and such approval to <br />include any amer.'ment to any of the plans for each <br />specific lift ■tat on , subject to staff reviewing t.,e <br />erosion control plans prior to Council review.
