M1' PRAYERS HAD FINALLY BEEN <br />ANSWERED.' <br />A WESTONKA RESIDENT <br />Dear Council Members of Orono: <br />When we think of family, we would like to think of a place <br />filled with love, the foundation an which our society is built. <br />However, many of our families are being torn apart by violence. <br />Domestic abuse knows no F--onomic or social barrier. It, not only <br />destroys the family, but it harms each member of the family in <br />such a way that they are not able to live up to their full <br />Potential. Domestic violence affects all of us because it <br />weikenK the base of our society. It. is not only a social issue, <br />but. a community problem that continues to repeat itself in <br />frequency and se%erity, rarely correcting itself without outside <br />help. In order to build a better society, communities need to <br />t.akv aot.ion against domestic violence. <br />he &tonka Int.ervention provides full-time domestic abuse <br />intervention and support, services which are reHponr;i%e to the <br />needs of the tvemtonka communities. Victimn of domestic violence <br />no lotige.,r need to go outside of the community for help.
