Public clearing Year XIV Community Development Block <br />Grant Program <br />For Year XIV, 1968 the City will receive $23,053 cf <br />Community Development Block Grant Funds. A requirement for <br />receiving these funds is to conduct a public hearing to receive <br />citizens inpact. The City published notice of the Public Hearing <br />in the legal newspaper. <br />The City has participated in the Block Grant Program for <br />twelve years and have allocated monies to park development and <br />improvements, comprehensive planning, handicaps ramps at voting <br />precints, sanitary sewer assessments and rehabilitation of <br />private property to just name a few. <br />There seems to be a constant need for housing <br />rehabi 1 itation. This program allows residents in the lower <br />income brackett to have repairs to there dwelling such as <br />roofing, plumbing, windows, insulating, etc. <br />We have also been advised that we can allocate monies to the <br />Highway 12 Corridor study. <br />Recommendation - To allocate S7500 to the Highway 12 Corridor <br />stud, and $15,553 to Rehabilitation of Private Property. <br />Proposed motion moved, _second, to allocate $7500 to <br />the Highway 12 Corridor study and $15, 553 to Rehabilitation of <br />Private Property from year XIV Community Development Block Grant <br />Funds. <br />TO: Mayor Grabek, <br />Orono Council Members <br />FROM: Mark Bernhardson, City AdministratO�� <br />Following the Plubic Hearing it is recommended that the <br />funds he allocated as listed above. <br />If any or al 1 funds for the Highway 12 Corridor Study are <br />not used they can he reallocated to rehabilitation of private <br />property without a formal puhlic hearing. Allocation to a new catagory <br />that may come up during the year would requrt-,., another public hearing. <br />
