/5- <br />CRUNC11 <br />3 , 1 r�IYG <br />TO: Mark Bernhardson, City Administrator "AR 2 8 <br />V V <br />FROM: John Gerhardson, Public Works Director CITY <br />DATE: March 22, 1988 ORONO <br />SUBJ: Feasibility Study - Lift Station #10 By -Pass <br />In August 1988, construction will begin on the metro waste Orono <br />interceptor project. <br />project will be completed in two construction seasons. <br />The project is being constructed so as to allow the City of Orono to <br />by-pass Lift Station #10, a major lift station in the Orono system. <br />So that we may possibly take advantage of contract prices established <br />in the metro bids, I feel it is appropriate that the City conduct an <br />independent feasibility study now to determine the feasibility and <br />costs for the actual by-pass of Lift Station #10. <br />The feasibility study costs will range from $1,500 to $2,500 and can <br />be paid from the sewer operating fund. <br />Recommendation_- To direct the City Engineer to perform a feasibility <br />study for a sanitary sewer by-pass of Lift Station #10 for an amount <br />not to exceed $2,500.00. <br />PROPOSED MOTION: Moved by , seconded by , to direct the City <br />Engineer to perform a feasibility study for a sanitary sewer by-pass <br />of Lift Station #10 for an amo,int not to exceed $2,500.00. The current lift station is soon <br />do for a substainial overall and it was recommended to replace with a <br />gravity line made possible by the Metro Waste Project. The change <br />will pay for itself by eliminating the cost of overall plus the <br />ongoing electric and maintenance costs. <br />
