3988.2 <br />TO: John Gerhardson, Acting Administrator <br />FROM: Dorothy Hallin, City Clerk <br />DATE: March 9, 1988 <br />SUBJECT: Survey of Neighboring Cities Re: Solicitors/Street <br />Vendors <br />In checking with neigiboring communities the following <br />information is provided: <br />MOUND - Ordinance regulating solicitors/street vendors <br />is mainly concerned that traffic flow is not <br />interrupted. (City Clerk stated Helen Skaret had <br />contacted a Mound councilmember regarding the 'Flower <br />Man' selling in Orono. <br />SPRING PARK - No ordinance. Persons wishing to sell are <br />referred to Chief Kilbo. <br />LONG LAKE - Ordinance requires permit and vendors are <br />required to have an established place of business, such <br />as owned or leased property within 2 miles of the City. <br />MINNE_TONKA BEACH - No ordinance. Their policy is to <br />tell persons to submit a request in writting to the <br />Council. To date no one has submitted a written <br />request. Council would review each request on a case by <br />case basis. <br />MEDINA - Ordinance states solicitors must be licensed. <br />To date C'ty has never issued a license. <br />MAPLE PLAIN - Ordinance regulating food vendors only. <br />Discount Flowers also sells in this City and there have <br />been no complaints regarding his business. <br />
