2488.4 <br />CI-ANCll MEETING <br />FEB - 81988 <br />TO: Mayor and City Council CITY OF ORONO <br />FROM: Mark Bernhardson, City Administrator <br />DATE: February 4, 1988 <br />SUBJECT: Planning Commission Appointment ___ 4/l/88 <br />ISSUE - Determine if the Council desires to seek other applicants <br />for the positions that will expire March 31. <br />INTRODU_UTION - The positions held by Ed Cohen and JameF Hansen <br />expire the end of March 1988. Both have expressed interest in <br />continuing. Ed Cohen was appointed in February 1987 and Jim <br />Hansen in September 1986. <br />ALTERNATIVES <br />1. Appoint the incumbents to their first three year <br />term commencing 1 April 1988. <br />2. Seek other applicants including applicants from <br />1987. <br />RECOMMENDATION - It is recommended that given the short terms of <br />the appointments of these two individuals and their interest in <br />their development as members that they be appointed to their <br />first three year term. <br />PROPOSED MOTION - Moved by , seconded by , that the Orono <br />Council appoint Ed Cohen and James Hansen each to three year <br />terms as members of the Planning Commission. Each term shall <br />expire on March 31, 1991. Ayes __, Nays __ <br />
