- approved the Treasurer's Reports for July, August, September, and October, <br />1987; <br />- approved the bills as covered by vouchers 057475 through 057689 and 056714 <br />through 056855. <br />Or. Mich reported that the annual AMSD legislative dinner will be held on <br />January 20; that he had had the opportunity to teach in Melodee Monicken's <br />Humanities class and expressed thanks to the students and Ms. Monicken for that <br />opportunity; that successful conferences had been held at all of the levels with <br />all levels reporting a higher number of parents attending conferences; that many <br />concerts and activities are taking place during this time of the year and men- <br />tioned that Ms. Fra9odt, elementary music teacher, had taken a group of third <br />graders to the Hillside Terrace Senior Citizens Apartments to perform on <br />December 8; that the school district has increased its participation in the <br />United Way and expressed thanks to Lynda Meador, Doug Erickson, Sarah Lutz, <br />Gloria Johnson, Jan Jacobson, Al Hoskins and Gertie Corpe for their work in this <br />area; that he will be recommending to the Board of Educa!ron in January that the <br />elementary school be dismissed for one day in order to allow him to work with <br />the elementary staff on that day regarding issues of concern; that Ginto <br />Naujokas and two students, Tja Grandstrand and Tim Lane, participated in an arts <br />program with other school districts in November and they did exceptionally well <br />in their representation of Orono Schools; that he wished for-veryone a happy <br />holiday season. <br />John Maresh, in response to a letter that had been received by Board members <br />regarding the North Shore Gymnastics program in the middle school, p,•vided <br />information to the Board regarding equipment purchases/maintenance of that <br />equipment that North Shore Gymnastics has provided for gymnastics use by both <br />North Shore and the high school gymnastics team. He stated that North Shore <br />Gymnastics is a non-profit organization and that North Shore Gymnastics wants to <br />cooperate with the district in use of facilities, etc. <br />Dave McKown responded that the agreement with North Shore Gymnastics, years <br />back, was the purchase of equipment, rent free gymnasium, and no conflict with <br />the school gymnastics program. <br />Lucie Taylor stated that she had enjoyed parent/teacher conferences. She <br />requested that the administration discuss establishing evening conferences at <br />the high school level for the convenience of working parents. <br />Maggie Roderick, President of the North Shore Gymnastics Association, expressed <br />appreciation to Dr. Mich for the time he had spent working with them and that <br />they support the high school gymnastics team. She stated that by next year <br />their program will have its own facility. She thanked the Orono Middle Schcol <br />for all the benefits they, as an association, have received from the school and <br />for help and support provided by the school and the parents. <br />Dr, hhrch expressed appreciation to Mrs. Roderick for her comments and that he <br />had appreciated her help and support the last few weeks whiles trying to work <br />through some differences. <br />Connie Priesz also commented on the long-standing successful program that North <br />Shore Gymnastics has provided. <br />
