MINUTES OF THE REGULAR ORONO COUNCIL MEETING HELD DECEMBER 14, 1987 <br />#643 CURTISS CONTINUED <br />It was moved by Councilmember Sime, seconded by <br />Councilmember Goetten, to table Application #643 until <br />the January 11, 1988 Council meeting. Motion, Ayes 5, <br />Nays 0. <br />#1104 GREG PERL <br />309 WESTLAKE STREET <br />VARIANCE <br />RESOLUTION #2318 <br />Gregg & Bette Perl were present for this matter. <br />City Administrator Bernhardson explained the request for <br />rear and side setback and height variances to construct <br />an addition to existing residence. Regarding the <br />substandard septic system, staff recommen::s requiring <br />completion of interim repairs no later than July 1, <br />1988, with due consideration given to the flexibility in <br />that date depending on tna status of the Stubbs Bay <br />Sewer project. Tois application was tabled at Council's <br />last meeting per.oing staff investigation of complaints <br />regarding home occupation violations on the property. <br />Staff inspected the property ar.d noted a few unrelated <br />zoning violations and sent a letter to applicant <br />addressing the alleged violations comet-nicating that if <br />the allegations were taking place, they would be in <br />violation of the City Code. <br />Greqg Per 1 stated they just want to abide by the rules <br />and improve their property. <br />Councilmember Callahan noted per staff's memo that <br />other cluttered properties were sited by staff in this <br />neighborhood that were in violation. <br />Assistant Zoning Administrator Gaffr.on confirmed this, <br />noting that staff usually enforces these violations only <br />upon comp 1 a i nt. <br />It was mo,%ed by Councilmember Callahan, secon('.ed by <br />Councilmember Goetten, to adopt Resolution $2318 <br />approving the variances per staff recommendation. <br />It was noted that none of the affected neighbors were <br />present Lor this matter. City Administrator Bernhardson <br />noted that the complaining neighbor was asked to submit <br />a written complaint with any other neighbors in <br />agreement with him, which the City has not received. <br />Assistant Zoning Administrator Gaf:ron also noted that <br />the complaining party was informed of this meeting. <br />
