AGREEMENT <br />This Agreement is entered into this day of , 2025 by and between the City <br />of Orono, a municipal corporation under the laws of Minnesota, hereinafter referred to as "City" <br />and the Westonka School District, a political subdivision of the State of Minnesota, hereinafter <br />referred to as "District." <br />WITNESSETH <br />For and in consideration of the mutual promises, terms, covenants, and conditions set forth <br />herein, the City and the District agree as follows: <br />Purpose of Agreement. The purpose of this Agreement is for the City to assign a policy <br />officer to provide law enforcement services at Shirley Hills Primary School and <br />Wesonkta Middle School. The officer assigned is referred to as a School Resource <br />Officer "SRO". The SRO will work with school personnel, provide a visible police <br />presence and promote safety in the schools. <br />2. Term. The term of this Agreement shall be the 2025-2026 school -year and will <br />automatically renew each school -year for 2026-2027 and 2027-2028 unless written notice <br />is given by either party by June 30 prior to the start of the next school year. The length of <br />the school -year may be mutually extended by the parties as they deem necessary to <br />satisfy attendance requirements that may have been affected by weather or other factors. <br />Termination. This Agreement may be terminated for any reason by either party upon 90 <br />days prior written notice. <br />4. Relationship to Parties. The SRO assigned to the District shall remain and be considered <br />an employee of the City and not of the District. The assigned SRO will be subject to <br />current procedures in effect for Orono police officers, including attendance at all <br />mandated training and testing to maintain state law enforcement officer certification. This <br />Agreement is not intended to and will not constitute, create, give rise to, or otherwise <br />recognize a joint venture, partnership, or formal business association or organization of <br />any kind between parties, and the rights and obligations of the parties shall be only those <br />expressly set forth in this Agreement. The parties agree that no person assigned by the <br />District to accomplish the goals of this Agreement is a City employee and that no rights <br />under City contracts or personnel rules accrue to such person. <br />5. Consideration. In consideration of the assignment of the SRO, the District agrees to pay <br />the City. Payment from the District to the City is due in full on October 15th of each year <br />►y: <br />
