I <br />LAKE MINNETONKA CONSERVATION DISTRIrC-� <br />NEWS RELEASE , <br />�V (' <br />October 27, 1989 Contact e Strommen <br />Dir. <br />473-70IJ, <br />SUBJECT: Environmental Assessment Worksheet Undertaken <br />Minnetonka Boat Works Orono Dock Expansion on Lake Minnetonka----1 <br />An Environmental Assessment Worksheet has been prepared by the <br />Lake Minnetonka Conservation District according to the rules of the Minnesota <br />Environmental Quality Board Environmental Review Program. The EAW presents <br />an analysis of circumstances surrounding an application for a dock expansion <br />for Minnetonka Boat Works, Orono, on Lake Minnetonka. <br />Minnetonka Boat Works owns property in the City of Orono. It has <br />frontage on Brown's Bay and Tanager Lake. The owner seeks to expand its <br />facilities from 41 to 47 boat storage units on P-nwn's Bay, and from 25 to <br />67 boat storage units on Tanager Lake - <br />The applicant's property has 3,31I1 feet of lake frontage, including <br />a breakwater. The proposed expansion woulc provide one slip per 29 feet of <br />lake frontage including the breakwater. TI-ere would be one slip per 19 feet <br />of lake frontage not including the breakwater. The proposal is well w,thin <br />the maximum dUnsit:y of one slip per 1.0 feet of frontage allowed under <br />LMCD Code Section 2.05• <br />The Environmental Assessment Worksheet can be reviewed at the LMCD <br />offices, 402 East Lake St., Wayzata, or at the Legislative Reference Library, <br />64j --,�ate Office Building, St, Paul, or the Environmental Conseriatien <br />Library, 300 Nicollet Mall, Minneapolis - <br />Written public comments are to be directed to the executive director - <br />Lake Minnetonka Conservation District, 402 E. Lake St., Wayzata MN 55391• The <br />comment period deadline is Monday, December 11 <br />
