Community Social, Services Act Process <br />The Ccmmunity Social Services Act Process varies from year-to-year <br />depending upon the opportunities available for the gathering and <br />analysis of data. The process by which the 1989 service priorities <br />were formulated included the participation of 492 persons. Specific <br />activities included: <br />* A review of local research <br />* A survey of Energy Assistance Program participants <br />* Release of report "Economic 8 Social Trends in Hennepin County <br />* Analysis of social service use trend data in West Hennepin <br />* Presentation of findings, priorities and issues to the Hennepin <br />County COmmunity Services management team and United Way planning <br />department <br />* Focus group interviews on: emergency service needs; child and <br />family issues; jobs, income and self-sufficiency; and access to <br />services; developmental disabilities, child care, physical <br />disabilities, chemical health and senior services <br />* Monitoring the Hennepin County budget <br />* release of two reports <br />Technical Assistance <br />We provide technical assistance to an average of 10-15 agencies and <br />organizations per month. <br />Mental Health <br />We have organized a Mental Health Advisory Committee which includes <br />consumers, family members and providers. The group is focusing on <br />bringing mental health services to the area to meet the needs of area <br />residents. <br />Advisory Committee <br />We serve on a number of advisory committees to provide a link to area <br />services. <br />Hennepin County Task Force on Youth ar.d Drugs <br />This task force was created at the <br />Commissioner Sivanich to start the <br />active role in its implementation. <br />volunteer Hours <br />impetus of WHHS. We advocated with <br />task force and have maintained an <br />During 1988, 8,000 volunteer hours were donated to WHHS Area Energy <br />Assistance, the Board of Directors and Citizen Participation Process. <br />4 <br />
