Dan Kokesh
4040 Watertown Road
Maple Plain, Minnesota 55359
Septemucr 20, 1989
City of Orono
Planning Commission
C/O Mr. Michael '. Gaffron
Post Office Box 66
Crystal Bay, Minnesota 55323
Dear Mr. Gaff ron and Planning Commission:
Enclosed you will find a completed variance application. I hope also that you will take the
time to read this letter explaining the need and the urgency that is associated with the
variance.
In August I made contracts with Willette Construction and Norse Exteriors to replace the
windows, siding and porch of my home. When we undertook this project we assumed that
we would not need a variance since we were just replacing the existing porch. Therefore
the old porch was removed when we were preps, ing for the siding. The need for this
variance presently has put a hold on the completion of this project, and, as it now stands,
three sides of the home are redone while the fourth is covered with tar -paper.
If we could get this variance at the October meeting the contractors would be able to lay the
footings for the porch and complete the project yet this fall, the deck would follow next
spring.
I hope you better understand the urgency of this application. It would help in completing
my obligations with the contractors and continuing to improve the aesthetics and value of
this property.
Sincerely,
Dan Kokesh
