MINUTES OF THE ORONO COUNCIL MEETING CIF SEPTEMBER 25, 1989 <br />COUNTY ROAD 116 CONTINUED <br />Iolaczyk whether it was true that 15 trees would be removed from <br />her property? <br />Mr. Polaczyk replied that from what he could see, there <br />would be 4 trees removed. Mr. Polaczyk said that he could send a <br />surveyor out to stake the area to which the road would extend. <br />Mrs. Mathewson also explained that traffic was a problem in <br />that area. <br />Acting Mayor Callahan suggested to Mr. Polaczyk that a <br />determination be made as to how many trees will need to be <br />removed 3 that an attempt be made to minimize tree removal. <br />olaczyk suggested that residents call and talk with <br />hims, r Mr. Theis if they have any questions or concerns <br />regarding this a.atter. Public Works Director Gerhardson <br />suggested that persons call him with their questions or to make <br />appointments to meet at their individual sites. <br />Acting Mayor Callahan asked who set the speed limit for the <br />road? <br />Mr. Polaczyk replied that the speed limit is set by the <br />Commissioner of Transportation who will conduct speed studies and <br />set the speed limit. <br />Ms. Rhonda Adams, 2095 Webber Hills, questioned why the <br />County would proceed with this project when the plans for Highway <br />12 were st�ll so uncertain? She said that she did not understand <br />the priority of this road. <br />Acting Mayor Callahan explained that such a question <br />pertained to the reason why the road was going in rather than to <br />the design of the road. He said that it is up to the City of <br />Medina and Hennepin County as to whether or not the road will be <br />constructed una when. <br />Mr. Cliff Otten, questioned whether the 1•1 foot right-of-way <br />would continue along the west side of Willow as far as Highway <br />12? <br />Mr. Polaczyk said that the 14' of right-of-way would <br />continue along the west side from Trunk Highway 12 to County Road <br />6. He added that there would be additional. right-of-way tc.ken <br />along the east side near Highway 12 in order to achieve better <br />alignment of the Road with Highway 12. <br />Mr. Greg Coward, 1950 Heritage Drive, said that the <br />character and atmosphere of the Roa' area will change regardless <br />of whether the Road is constructed by the County or by Orono. <br />Acting Mayor Callahan concurred witr Mr. Coward. <br />5 <br />
