RD. 116 Iv THE CITIES OF ORONO AND MEDINA''•C C <br />'W?MEAS, the extension of County Road 116 has been on the City of 's C <br />rehensive Plan for many years, and <br />WHERF:S, the construction of County Road 116 will greatly enhance the City of <br />Medina's emergency response capabilities. and <br />WHEREAS, the county's road standards are better than of the City of Medina's, <br />thus providing for Letter traffic and recreation ro i <br />IWEREAS, the maintenance of some existing City of Mew _7� ds will be taken over <br />by the county, and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Medina is under 5,000 population and does not qualify for <br />Minnesota State Aid Roads, and <br />WHEREAS, the construction of County Road 116 will cost S2.4 million, which is more <br />than the City of Medina can afford, and <br />WHERzAS,the City of Orono as well as all cities of the City of Medina's size have <br />more county roads than the City of Medina, and <br />WHEREAS, with t' resolution the City of Medina reaffirms its commitmnt to the <br />construction of :y Road 116, and <br />WHEREAS, Hennepin County has placed the extension of Count.-::<oad 116 on it's lOw <br />road construction plan, <br />WHEREAS, County Road '.!a will end at the City of Orono border if the City of Orono <br />does not permit it to extend further south, and <br />;%NMEAS, traffic will probably increase on the City of Orono streets, and at the <br />intersection of Willow Drive and Highway 12, and <br />'.?+FMFAS, the City of Medina will support the City of Orono in obtaining a stop light <br />it Willow Drive and Highway 12 if the City of Orono permits County Road 116 to extend <br />to Highway 12. and <br />4WEAS, the extension, nf County Road 116 is good for the City of Orono for the same <br />reasons as it is for the city of Medina. now <br />'?EREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of Medina goes on record recommending <br />fiat the City of Orono allow County Road 116 to extend to U.S. Highway 12. <br />_'opted by the Council of the City of Medina this _dawr off ��1 eg. <br />--:•ESr:'_ fir: �, ,_� �,..•1`,_ , � � '' � � 1 <br />Clerk -Treasurer <br />
