August 14, 1989 <br />City of Orono <br />PO Box 66 <br />Crystal Bay, MN 55323 <br />Re: Langhans Request For Variance <br />(1366 Rest Point Rd.) <br />Gentlemen: <br />We wish to support the Langhans' request for a variance for their deck which has <br />been placed over an existing floor and walls of an old boathouse. <br />There has been a concern that any heavy rain would wash out the old walls and <br />create a strong likelihood that two very large trees would be undercut by such a <br />washout. The loss of these trees would be a great loss to the appearance and value <br />to both the Langhans and our property. <br />The deck that is in place does not, we believe use up any more ground than the <br />boathouse floor, and as such should be permitted.
