It <br />IV <br />N <br />PUBLIC PROTECTION <br />age asked by the licensee or his employee and <br />shall produce any identification, if any exists, for <br />which he is asked. Display. <br />All licenses issued under this division shall be <br />posted and displayed in plain view of the general <br />public on the licensed premises. <br />(Code 2003, § 50-72; Ord. Revocation or suspension. <br />Any license issued under this division may be <br />revoked or suspended as provided in sections <br />5.12.120 and 5.12.130. <br />(Code 2003, § 50-73; Ord. No. 164(2nd series), <br />§ 300(4), 12-8-1997) <br />Sec. 5.12.440. Sampling prohibited. <br />(a) Pursuant to the authority granted to the <br />city by Minn. Stats. § 144.417, the operator of <br />any tobacco products shop licensed under this <br />division is hereby prohibited from any of the <br />following: <br />(1) Except for a bona fide sale of a smoking <br />device, providing or otherwise making <br />available a smoking device for use by any <br />individual within the indoor area of a <br />shop licensed under this division; <br />(2) Permitting any person to light, burn, <br />smoke, inhale, or exhale tobacco, tobacco <br />products, or tobacco -related devices within <br />the indoor area of any establishment <br />with a tobacco license under this divi- <br />sion. <br />(b) Pursuant to the authority granted to the <br />city by Minn. Stats. § 144.417, smoking for the <br />purposes of sampling tobacco and tobacco - <br />related devices is prohibited. No. 126(3rd series), <br />§ 4, 11-10-2014) <br />CHAPTER 5.16. ORONO TOBACCO -FREE <br />PARKS AND WORKPLACES ACT <br />Sec. 5.16.010. Intent and findings. <br />It is found and determined that tobacco use is <br />a danger to the health, safety, and general <br />welfare of the community. <br />(1) Numerous studies have found that tobacco <br />smoke is a major contributor to indoor <br />air pollution and that breathing <br />secondhand smoke or environmental <br />tobacco smoke is a cause of diseases such <br />as lung cancer, cardiovascular disease, <br />and respiratory disease and a cause of <br />strokes and heart attacks. <br />(2) The Public Health Service's National <br />Toxicology Program has listed secondhand <br />smoke as a known carcinogen. According <br />to the United States Surgeon General, <br />there are more than 50 cancer -causing <br />chemicals in secondhand smoke. <br />(3) Secondhand smoke is particularly hazard- <br />ous to the elderly and those with <br />cardiovascular disease and impaired <br />respiratory function. Children exposed <br />to secondhand smoke have an increased <br />risk and severity of asthma, respiratory <br />infections, sudden infant death syndrome, <br />developmental abnormalities, cancer, and <br />premature death. <br />(4) The United States Surgeon General <br />reports that there is no risk -free level of <br />exposure to secondhand smoke and that <br />even short exposure to secondhand smoke <br />can damage blood vessels, decrease <br />coronary flow velocity reserves, and reduce <br />heart rate variability, potentially increas- <br />CD5:25 <br />
