� , <br /> � <br /> RESOLUTION N0. 1029 • <br /> � A RESOLUTION CHANGING THE NAME OF <br /> CENTRAL AVENUE TO SPATES AVENUE <br /> IN THE . CITY OF ORONO <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Or ono has received " <br /> a petition signed by all affected residents requesting that the name <br /> of �entral Avenue, a public street, be changed to SPATES AVENUE between <br /> Shoreline Drive lCounty Road 15) and South Brown Road � (County Road 146).; <br /> and � • <br /> WHEREAS, the name of �entral Avenue is also used for streets <br /> in several adjoining and nearby Cities, which use has caused confusion <br /> and misidentification of locations ; and . <br /> WHEREAS, the name of SPATES would be in honor of J.V. Spates <br /> who was a life-long resident of Orono and whose parents were among the <br /> earliest settlers of Orono, which name would then have historic <br /> significance for the City; and <br /> WHEREAS, the name of SPATES is not in conflict with other <br /> � streets in Orono or nearby Cities, <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the <br /> City of Orono in the public interest hereby changes the name of <br /> Central Avenue to SPATES AVENUE in honor of J.V. Spates an early <br /> resident of the City. <br /> This City Council further directs City staff to affect the <br /> necessary changes in street identification signs and to notify all <br /> affected parties including the post office, school district, emergency <br /> services and the public at large. <br /> This name change shall be effective upon publication in <br /> the Lake Minnetonka Sun. <br /> Adopted by the City Council o� the City of 0 on on this <br /> Eighth day of May, 1979. <br /> � �� <br /> William B.
