0\S4
'+
aM
April 30, 1998
Thomas P. and Mary Lou Lutz
258 Cygnet Place
Long Lake, MN 55356
Dear Mr. and Mrs. Lutz:
CITYof ORONO
Municipal OlMim
Street Address: MaiNng Address:
2750 Kelley Parkway P.O. Box 66
Orono, MN 55356 Crystal Bay, MN 55323.0066
This letter is in response to the letter you sent us dated April 20, 1998. In our previous discussions,
I had informed you that in order to complete your sewer connection, both sewer lines from your
residence must be connected =.o the municipal sewer or the second sewer line must be abandoned and
all the septic tanks formerly serving the property must be abandoned. This work must be inspected
by the City to verify the work has been completed in compliance with City Codes.
Your recent letter indicates that you have sealed the floor drain, which is the only plumbing still
connected to the sewer line exiting the residence from the basement. In order to consider the existing
sewer line abandoned, the tank must now be collapsed and filled with soil. You expressed concern
over abandoning the septic tanks connected to this sewer line without the neighbors permission as
the tanks he on his property and you were unable to locate him.
The Orono Building Official contacted the owner of the neighboring property on another issue and
mentioned your concern over the septic tank abandonment. He informed us that he will allow you
to abandon the tanks as long as the grade is restored reasonably level with topsoil. Enclosed is the
letter he sent us. The original letter will be available for your review at the City Offices.
Please abandon the septic tanks and call the City for a final inspection by June 12, 1998. If you have
questions, please contact me during office hours at 473-7357.
Sincerely,
Stephen Weckman
On -Site Systems Manager
Telepbose (612) 473-7357 0 FAX 473010
