Telephone 473-7357
CITY of ORONO
Post Office Box 66 •Crystal Bay, Minnesota 55323•Municipal Offices
On the North Shore of Lake Minnetonka
July 28, 1978
Mr. Dean Molin
248 Cygnet Place
Long Lake, Mn. 55356
Dear Mr. Molin:
The proposal for a bed-type addition to your drainfield has
been disapproved by the City Engineer. While we feel that
addition of a 450 square foot seepage bed would improve the
current situation, it may not be a long-term solution. Also,
a number of site limitations including slowly permeable clay
soils and proximity to the creek would preclude city approval
of the proposal without further information. It may be neces
sary in fact to remove the entire existing drainfield, or to
remove trees, or install a mound system.
Further information to be submitted should include 2 soil borings
and 4 percolation tests in the drainfield area to document soil
permeability and depth of water table. Your engineer or soil
tester should design a system based on the data obtained.
Design plans, documentation of the soils, and a more accurate
scale drawing of the lot, home, topographical features, and
elevations, should be submitted.
The City is committed to making septic systems work on a long
term basis. Please feel free to call me if you have any
questions. I will be happy to meet with you if you wish.
Sincerely,
Michael P. Gaffron
Septic System Inspector
MPG:cr
Enc.
