'1 lephone -173-7357
CITY of ORONO
}lost Office H(jx 669Crystal Hay, Minnesota 553230Municipal Offices
On the North Shure of Lake Minnetonka
December 29, 1983
Mr. Dale Zoerb
A-1 Quality Construction Company
2202 Rockstone Lane
Minneapolis, Minnesota 55112
Re: Robert Provo Septic System Repair Proposal
Dear Mr. Zoerb:
Thank you for submitting the Robert Provo septic system site
evaluation and design. The proposal appears to meet Orono code
requirements in most respects; the following items should be noted:
1) New mound is to be placed over old drainfield. All existing
trench drainfield, which extends outside the perimeter of the
mound, must be removed or turned over and mixed to eliminate
the possibility of seepage from mound area into trenches acting
as a conduit to the surface.
l) Size of pump chamber must allow 150/gal.BR reserve capacity, not
75 gal./BR as designed (Orono code requirement). Based on 5 BR's
as proposal indicates, reserve capacity of 750 gallons is required.
This normally requires use of a 1000 gallon pump tank.
3) The existing tanks are presumably 1000 and 600 gallons respectively,
based on information supplied by Widmer Bros., Inc. dated December
13, 1969. These tanks will be suitable foi continued use only
if they have solid concrete bottoms and are reasonably free from
groundwater infiltration. It is impossible for me to make a
final determination whether the existing tanks need to be replaced
until they are opened up. I suggest that you have the system bid
both with and without replacement precast tanks. Note, that
minimum tank sizes required are 1000 and 750 gallons respectively
(see attached Mound System Construction` flyer).
